Part 1

"Malfunction"

Prologue - fav.me/d9zm755

Noise of metal and junk can be heard from a metal filled scrapyard of a very small and old town, and two shapes are seen moving there. One is that of a robot, with an extended arm coming from a hole in it's back, moving larger pieces of old broken machine parts and junk, letting a gray haired man in an old and shabby labcoat go through the parts, every now and then picking something up and either throwing it away, or loading it on the robot's storage space.
"Professor Bolt, my storage is nearly full, I advise we bring the collected items back to the lab and come back to get more" the robot tells the man as he's trying his best to shove a machine part with the rest of the collected stuff on to the robot. "One trip strategy, 121!" the man responds to the robot. "I don't wanna walk all that way back and forth again" he continues, and turns back to a pile of metal he had been searching. "The lab is only 50 meters away." 121 informed Bolt. "I'm aware." Bolt responded, and his attention was caught by a odd, worn-out machine, as if he had been looking for exactly that.
A piece of metal slammed to the metal parts on the ground as he tore a part of the machine open with a crowbar, then took a look inside to see a dim blue light from within the machinery. "Huh... well this is odd...." he said, and reached within the machine, and lifted something resembling a lightbulb with his robotic arm. The weird part he picked up was glowing with a ghostly blue light, despite no visible energy source, and was shaped like a soft cornered diamond made of barely transparent blue glass.
Bolt flicked the small part to the air and caught it with his other hand, and dropped it to his labcoat's pocket, patting it to make sure it was there. "Well, I think we're done here, 121. Let's head back, I have a machine to finish!" Bolt said and slid down a small hill they had been on, tripping on a metal pipe on the way down and landing on his face. "Im allright!" he yelled from the ground, as 121 walked next to him and picked him up to carry him.

A door to the lab was gently kicked open by Bolt, rising a small cloud of dust to the air before slowly settling down, only being stirred up in the air a little as Bolt walked by, flicked a switch on the wall causing the few lights that still worked to slowly flicker on, and then walked to a table, laying down the small lightbulb looking thing from his pocket, and grabbing an unopened bottle of booze from under the table and popping it open. 121 arrived through the backdoor that had a larger door he can fit though to the room, and immediately scolded Bolt on his drinking habits as usual.
"Hey, it's my first drink today, gimme some slack will you." he replied to 121 and took a long swig with his head bent back and bottle raised above his head, clearly showing the bubbles going up from drinking. "False, that would be your 5th bottle within the 12 hours of current day." 121 corrected. Bolt lowered the bottle and left out a satisfied sigh, and laid the bottle on the table. "I meant first drink of this specific brand, close enough." he said jokingly, and approached the load of parts 121 was carrying and started to go through them, laying some on the table, and throwing some on a box reading spare parts on it written with a marker.
After he was finished with his sorting of the parts, Bolt walked to the back of the room, and took off a cover from a large incomplete looking machine, and grabbed a few parts and his bottle from the table, and went inside the machine.
He worked on it for good 30 minutes, while taking a swig of his bottle every now and then, until finally stepping back from the machine to admire it, and wiping his hands on a gray rug to clean them. "There, almost finished now!" he claimed happily. "This oughta surprise Anthony, a machine of my own to travel between his dimension and mine, and maybe even some others." bolt exclaimed, and turned his head to face 121. "You think there would be a world with lakes of booze?" he asked excitedly with a gleam in his eyes. "For the sake of your health, I sincerely hope not." 121 replied with his usual serious sounding tone. "What were you planning with the glowing item you brought with us?" 121 then asked, referring to the blue glowing part still on the table. "Ah, yes, I was planning to find out what it is. There doesn't seem to be any energy source for it, yet it's still glowing despite being taken away from the machine I found it in." Bolt explained and rubbed his chin. "Weird thing is though, I actually saw this thing in my dream last night... and even found it in the same place. Talk about a weird coincidence!"
Bolt then then took the small part, and attached it to a machine about the size of a microwave next to a table of computers, pressed a few buttons, and then grabbed a tool and removed 121's core from the bulky body, and attached it to machinery connected to the Computers, allowing 121 a control over the large portion of the lab's machinery. "Look up some info online if you're able to, I'm sending a picture of it to Anthony with SpaceBook and see if he has any idea about it" he instructed 121, and started to type message to Anthony on his phone, and then snapping a picture of the bulb. But at the same moment as he pressed "Send", the odd bulb lit up brightly in the machine it was attached in, and sent a flash of energy to the dimension machine Bolt had just worked on, followed by the whole Place losing it's electricity.

Bolt looked around his darkened workshop, only being lit by few small Windows, and walked to 121, who had been turned off momentarily due to being connected to electricity grid of the lab instead of his own, and needed a quick reset. Bolt disconnected 121's core from the machines, and reached for a power control behind the core, and switched it on-and-off, and soon heard a small hum inside, signifying 121 has started rebooting. "Well, he should be back in a few. Now... what should I..." he started but quieted down to listen to odd noise he was hearing in the lab, and after looking for the source, it sounded like it was coming from the dimension traveling machine. Bolt then noticed lights of the machine's controls inside lit up, and slowly getting brighter. Curiously he approached the machine, still carrying 121's core, and looked inside. On one of the small screens, he noticed an odd symbol of what seemed like a keyhole. He tapped on it's glass, and then looked around the machine, wondering what was powering it up and scratched his hair in confusion.
He looked around the machinery for a while, when suddenly he felt vibration in his pocket, followed by a ringtone of a call. "Ah, it must be Anthon-" he said, but before he could even finish his sentence and reach for his phone, a bright flash emerged from the machine, covering Bolt and 121, and with that, machine had disappeared from the messy old workshop completely, leaving only a cloud of dust dancing in the narrow beams of light from the Windows as it settled down.

Two sets of footsteps were echoing in the stairways of DSC's headquarters. "So why did Anthony ask us to come here again?" one of them asked the other. "Routine maintenance of the dimension machine. Asked me to grab few spare parts from the shop and bring you along. Probably so he can cheap out on the compressed air bottle!" he replied with a teasing grin. "Har har..!" the first guy replied, and reached to push open a door to a large brightly lit up room, with lot of machinery on the sides, and a large machine at the back with bunch of cords and wires coming from it, which someone was working behind.
Anthony peeked from behind the machine as the two walked in. "Ah, X and Gust, I was already waiting for you!" he said and rose from behind the machine, wiping his hands on a rug and walking to X and Gust. "Ah, perfect, just what I needed. Thank you!" Anthony said and grabbed the parts X had brough with him. "Now, could you stay a bit and help with the maintenance? We'll be done lot quicker if everyone helps." he then asked, and took the parts to the machine. "Here, Nova. Here's the new parts." he gave the parts to Nova who was working on something inside the machine, and then started to walk to a side room with bunch of Computer screens and controls. "X, if you could help Tony bring up some stuff from the storage floor below, and Gust, there's some dust deeper inside the machinery, do you think you could...?" X left out a short laugh and whispered to Gust: "Pfft, called it~!" before heading to the storage. "Yeah yeah, I got it." Gust responded to Anthony's question, and gave an unamused glance at X before heading towards the machine, giving a quick hello to Nova.

Tony was in the dim storage, lifting crates around and stacking some of them near the door, floating them with a green glow surrounding them. As he was making the last crate slowly land down on the pile of the crates, he could see someone move behind the slightly open door, and then open it, letting some more light to the room. "Yo!" X said to Tony, walking inside.
"Ah, hey X!" he greeted X. "Could you bring this other pile upstairs for me? Saves me an extra trip." he said and pointed at a pile of few crates, with some larger metal parts in them, covered by a layer of dust. "Man, I thought he said this was just routine maintenance. What is he, planning to replace every part of the friggin' machine?" X exlaimed while picking up the crates. "Heh, he just wants to make sure everything works at 100%. And besides, some of these parts had been due to replace any day now, so might as well do it all in one go." Tony responded, and lifted up his share of the crates with his powers, and started to head outside the storage, closing the door after X got out too.
"Well well, look at that, haven't you been training your powers! Carrying multiple crates." X noticed. "Haha, yeah, it's gotten a little better. Still not that strong though." Tony responded, and the two headed back upstairs.
Back at upstairs, Anthony was checking the machine, taking notes on a list, and instructing Nova's work, and then turned back to door as X and Tony came back with the parts. "Good! Did you find everything?" he asked Tony. "Ah, just leave them next to the machine." he continued quickly. "Yeah, I think so." Tony said, as he floated the crates down.
"Nice work, Now could you possibly move the crates a little so I can actually get out of here, you carrier mule..." a voice of Gust said from an opening of a machine, directed at X, who had laid down his crates blocking Gust's way out from where he was working. "Ohh, sorry, didnt see you there." X said sounding quite sarcastic. "But don't you think the machine would benefit from a brand new efficient fan inside?" X continued jokingly as he pushed the crates to the side with his foot. "I'd suggest the same about new metal cover and smack your face on it, but I think the current one is more intelligent." Gust responded annoyedly as he was getting up. "You looking for a fight, airhead?" X asked. "Metal brain!" Gust simply replied. "Now now guys, no fighting!" Anthony tried to calm the two down as he returned from the sideroom, but was interrupted by a message.
"Ooh, it's from Bolt!" Anthony said, as he read the message from his phone. "Please tell me HE isn't coming here to help us! That last so called upgrade he did here... The toilet STILL doesn't work properly!" X asked with a bit of worry in his voice. "Haha, no, we can't really use the machine to get him here at the moment while we're working on it anyways. He's just asking about some part he found, though I have no idea what it is... It looks like a simple blue lightbulb, though oddly shaped." he said, and turned back to use a Computer in the side room to do a quick search, leaving X and Gust to exchange few more insults while Tony tried his best to stop it.
Few minutes pass, and suddenly the lights flicker a little for a moment, catching people's attention. "Hmm? That's odd. What was that about?" Tony looked up to the lights. "Eh, probably just something wrong with lights too. So much for everything working 100%" X says while shrigging his shoulders. "Uh.. g-guys?" A careful voice says from inside the machine. People turn towards Nova who's peeking inside the machine, pointing inside. "The machine's acting a bit weird." he says and is already putting his foot outside the machine to step away, but is instead startled by a sudden flash of lightning from the machine, followed by continued flickering of the light. Meanwhile Anthony notices something wrong with machines, and the lights next room, and tries to rush in. "Get away from the Computer! It's gonna-" but before he can finish his sentence, a bright flash of light covers the entire machine room, momentarily blidning Anthony.
As Anthony regains his vision, he finds the room empty, and quicly turns to type on his Computer to see if Tony, X, gust and Nova had been transported to another dimension, but only getting odd error text on his screens, taking a shape of a keyhole made up of text, numbers and other symbols. "Oh no no no no no! What's going on?!" Anthony let out a worried yell, as he tried his best to find out what had happened.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tony wakes up to a strong headache, and can't see anything, but quickly feels stinging cold on his body, and has no strength to even lift a finger, but with great difficulty, he manages to get his eyes open to see only bright whiteness. As his vision slowly sharpened from the blur, he quickly realized he was laying in deep snow, with powerful freezing wind and snowfall hitting him constantly. As he peeked to the side, he could see his swords sticking in a pile of snow, and then noticed someone else nearby, laying down in the snow like him, partly covered in snow, but unable to recognize them due to all the snow. Tony attempted to yell at the other person, but barely able to even get breath, turning his yell to a mere weak whisper of air coming from his lips, lost in the howling of the wind.
Tony's eyes soon grew more heavy, forcing him to close them, and then try to open them again, this time, hardly from behind all the snowfall, noticing a shadow in the between of hills nearby, slowly moving closer. At first he thought it was a person, but it soon became appearent it was much bigger, with a shape of a bear, but much, much larger, and with horns or tusks coming from it's head. It appeared to be sniffing the air, and Tony saw a glimpse of sharp teeth as it opened it's mouth, with drool dripping from between them as it looked at Tony and the other person with hungry eyes.Tony got scared, and tried to yell and raise up to reach for his swords in growing panic, but was again only able to let out a small gasp while slightly moving his arm, only pushing little against the snow.
Suddenly Tony heard quick steps coming from somewhere behind him where he had no strength to even turn his head towards. Then a silhouette of a large person came into his view between him and the other person laying unconcious in the snow. The person stood tall in front of Tony, and had something resembling a cape fluttering wildly in the cold wind near Tony. "Ey, you better leave these two alone!" a powerful voice commanded at the beast, the latter only letting out a deep growl, making a cloud of heavy mist with it's breath in the cold air, and taking a stance, seemingly ready to fight. The person who had appeared next to Tony responded with a stance of their own, lowering their head, and readying to jump at the beast. "Let's see which of our heads is stronger, shall we?!" the powerful voice said excitedly, before quickly jumping from where she had been standing rising a cloud of snow, and dashing right at the beast, followed by a shockwave, raising the snow to the air in a large area, and pushing Tony back from where he had been laying.
As he landed back on the the soft snowy ground, his sight started to fade into black, and felt as his body grew numb. Last thing he saw was the silhouette of the person rising up, and turning their head towards Tony, before he only saw darkness, falling unconcious.
